This study examines the radical shift in U.S. strategy toward Algeria during the period (2022–2025), as decision-makers in Washington moved from an approach of “pure security cooperation” to the construction of a “comprehensive economic and energy partnership.”
The study reviews how the global energy crisis led to the rediscovery of Algeria as a strategic and reliable alternative gas supplier, as well as the growing role of major U.S. energy companies in deepening this relationship. It also highlights the expansion of this partnership to include non-traditional sectors such as mining, rare earth elements, and cyber security, as part of a broader struggle for international influence.
The study concludes that the “2025 Vision” for strategic dialogue aims to transform Algeria into an American economic and technological platform in North Africa, while also identifying bureaucratic and geopolitical challenges that may hinder this trajectory.
